Copter

A Design Inquiry for Objects that Move Autonomously While Coexisting with Humans

VRSJ2024, 2024

Project Summary

The development of artificial intelligence technology has made it possible for autonomously behaving agents to interact with the world around them at natural speeds comparable to those of humans. In the near future, it is necessary to consider how things and humans should coexist toward a world where such agents are integrated into things and integrated into daily life. However, because of the rapid technological progress and the difficulty of forming a consensus on a desirable society, conventional problem-solving research cannot provide a clear solution. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explore and clarify what kind of problems exist through prototyping. As a first step, we will explore the coexistence of things and humans by using the design of a device called “Copter,” which can interact with the world autonomously while acting together with humans.
