「somehow, my heart is with those things」(2027/7/31-8/2)

somehow, my heart is with those things
Things sometimes come to hold a person’s heart.
Well-worn tools, carefully stored clothes, and small belongings we cannot bring ourselves to let go of. Whenever we touch an object to which we have entrusted our heart, memories and emotions return, and through them, the heart begins to grow once again.
This exhibition presents the final outcomes of the JSPS KAKENHI research project, “Interaction Design for a Circular Economy Based on the Dynamics of the Subjective Value of Objects.”
Over the four years since 2023, Affective Design Lab has taken the feelings and attachments people develop toward objects as a point of departure, gradually extending its perspective to relationships with other people, AI, gods, and other living beings.
By designing interfaces that receive and hold the heart, along with the ways in which they behave, we explore how subjective value emerges in the spaces between ourselves and various other beings—and how that value is nurtured, transformed, and circulated.
Through the works and prototypes developed from this research, we invite you to experience how the heart can be nurtured together with things, and to encounter new forms of relationship.
